The Most Wonderful time of the Year

When I was a kid I remember the first thing I wanted to find before the Thanksgiving turkey was even cold was the airing of ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’. I could hear the “ba-who-boreh” and feel the swelling of my heart as the Grinch’s heart grew three sizes. There was just no better story.

The growing number of months that is has been since we have shared our family rituals, whether related or not, is bittersweet. On one hand it reminds us just how lucky we are to have such wonderful people in our lives. On the other hand, it can be absolutely painful to miss another holiday with them. The story of the Grinch reminds me the importance of the people we love and there ability to make impossible situations better. For many of us we may still be unable to see loved ones or may have lost loved ones. I hold the story of the Grinch close as a reminder that we can still be heart to heart even if we can’t be hand in hand.

This coming year, I invite you to focus on the light. Much like the days following the Winter Solstice, we to can grow into the light. See it. Focus on the coming dawn. Meet 2022 with hope in our hearts. Carry along with us the feelings of merry and bright. And shine bright like diamonds we’ve become under all this pressure.

Happiest of Holiday seasons to each and every one of you. I wish you a year of abundance and growth and joy that you couldn’t have imagined.
